In January 2014, Swedish developer Fuzzy Puppy announced the Spanish Fork, a fork of Minecraft that would take advantage of the Minecraft engine.
In the Spasn, Minecraft would be powered by a new, free-to-play Minecraft game engine that would support custom blocks, skins, and more.
The Spasnian fork was born.
The game’s core elements, such as the Minecraft launcher, the block-building tools, and the “Minecraft”-themed sandbox mode, were inspired by Spasnos original Minecraft game.
Fuzzed Puppy and Mojang partnered on the Spasm project to create SpasN.
